Michael A. Middleton, M.D.
Dr. Michael Middleton was born and raised in Macon, GA. He attended Tattnall Square Academy for high school and then received a biology degree from Samford University, where he met an Orlando girl named Adair Fletcher. They married a month after graduation and moved to Augusta, GA for Michael to attend the Medical College of Georgia. After receiving his Doctorate of Medicine in 1998, he completed a pediatric residency at the University of Florida, followed by an additional year on the faculty of the Pediatrics Department as Chief Resident. Then, in 2002, they moved to Orlando to work in private practice for the next 8 1/2 years, before starting Middleton Pediatrics in 2011.
Michael and Adair have four children, are members of First Baptist Church of Orlando, and live in College Park. In his free time, Michael loves a good book, playing basketball with his sons, and spending time together as a family at the beach.
Lorena M. Acosta, M.D.
Dr. Lorena Acosta was born in Lima, Peru and moved to the United States at the age of 6. She grew up in Weston, FL where she attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School before going on to the University of Florida, graduating with highest honors and a dual degree in Business Administration and Microbiology and Cell Science. Dr. Acosta continued at the University of Florida for medical school, earning her Doctorate of Medicine in 2006, and completed her Pediatric Residency at UF. She stayed an additional year on faculty of the Department of Pediatrics as Chief Resident. Dr. Acosta completed 1 year of fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Arnold Palmer Hospital. Afterward, she worked as a Medical Education Pediatric Hospitalist at Arnold Palmer Hospital, while simultaneously serving as Assistant Professor for the Pediatric Residency Program at UCF College of Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor at FSU College of Medicine. Dr. Acosta joined Middleton Pediatrics in January 2014 and is married to her high school sweetheart, Dr. Jason Acosta, an anesthesiologist. They reside in Belle Isle with their two children. In her free time, Dr. Acosta enjoys traveling, watching Gator sports, and spending time with her kids and family.
Brad Von Edwins, DO
Dr. Brad Von Edwins grew up in Palm Bay, Florida. He attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) where he earned a degree in Visual Language, Animation, and Storytelling. After graduating, he worked for Walt Disney World as a puppeteer, where he met his wonderful wife Amy.
Brad attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. During medical school, he completed a 1-year pre-doctoral fellowship in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine; he then returned to Orlando for his Pediatric Residency. Brad completed his residency with the University of Florida at Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he stayed an additional year as a Chief Resident and Faculty member in the Pediatric Department.
Amy and Brad have 2 sons and love living in Central Florida. During their free time, they enjoy attending local music shows, theater performances, going to Disney, playing and listening to music.
Christine May, A.P.R.N.
Christine May was born and raised in upstate New York. She attended West Virginia University and received a Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2003. Christine began her career as a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at West Virginia University Children’s Hospital. Shortly thereafter, Christine returned to school at West Virginia University to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, by obtaining a Master of Science Degree in Nursing, in 2006. Upon completion, Christine moved to Florida and has been working in pediatric primary care since that time. She joined the Middleton Pediatrics team when we opened in 2011. Christine is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and an active member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP).
Christine met her husband, Nabil, in Orlando and they married in 2009. They have two daughters, Amelia and Olivia.
Lauren Freeman, A.P.R.N. (not currently seeing patients)
Lauren Freeman received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Florida and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Central Florida. She worked in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Florida Hospital prior to joining the Middleton Pediatrics family in June 2012. Lauren is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and an active member of both Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP).
Lauren is married to her best friend, Josh, and they have three children, Noah, Brody, and Rowan. They are actively involved in their church and love growing in community with others. She loves pediatrics and is passionate about all children knowing they are loved. Lauren and her family recently moved to California, but helps with after-hour calls and clinical follow up from time-to-time.
Briana McLain, A.P.R.N.
Briana McLain was born and raised in Orlando, FL. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from UCF in 2011 and began her career as a Registered Nurse on the orthopedic and neurology departments at Arnold Palmer Hospital. She went on to pursue her Master’s Degree in Nursing, graduating in 2014. Briana joined the Middleton Pediatrics team shortly thereafter.
Briana is married to her high school sweetheart, Matthew, and they have three children, Liam, Morgan, and Logan. When Briana is not seeing patients here she enjoys running, spending time with her kids at the park and attending her husband's triathlon competitions.
Lucy Aitcheson, A.P.R.N
Lucy Aitcheson was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended the University of Kentucky where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2007. She began her career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. Lucy then married her husband and relocated to Oviedo, where he was finishing his seminary degree.
Lucy worked at Winnie Palmer Hospital in the NICU as she pursued her Master's Degree in Nursing, graduating in 2014. She is also a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Lucy and her family relocated to South Downtown Orlando for her husband, Mike, to plant Christ United Fellowship. They have four daughters, Leah, Annie, Carrisa and Hannah. Lucy enjoys spending time with her kids, bike rides, and beach trips.
Lauren Collins, A.P.R.N.
Lauren Collins was born and raised in Winter Springs, Florida. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from UCF in 2011, and went on to work as a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit at both All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg and Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando. Lauren's passion for pediatric care is what drove her to pursue her Master's degree in nursing at Drexel University. While obtaining her Master's degree, Lauren worked at a school-based health center providing healthcare services to the children of Orange County Public Schools. During her training, Lauren spent one of her clinical rotations here, at Middleton Pediatrics. She completed her Master's degree in 2016 and has been working in pediatric primary care ever since. Lauren joined the Middleton Pediatrics team in 2018.
Lauren and her husband Corey currently reside in Sorrento where they enjoy living an active outdoors lifestyle and spending time with their dog, Molly. They welcomed their daughter, Kennedy Grace, in October of 2019.
Joanie Gavin, PA-C
Joanie Gavin was born and raised in Windermere, FL. She completed part of her undergraduate education in Biology at Georgia Southern University and earned her Bachelors's degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology from the University of Central Florida in 2015. During her time at UCF, she worked as a medical scribe at Middleton Pediatrics, then went on to pursue her Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from Nova Southeastern University, graduating in 2018. She worked in internal medicine before joining the team at Middleton Pediatrics.
Joanie enjoys reading, running, spending time with family and friends, and anything outdoors!
Lisa Aldrich, Office Manager / Insurance & Billing
Lisa Aldrich was born and raised in Maitland, FL. She graduated from Winter Park High School before attending Valencia Community College. Lisa is a Certified Professional Biller (CPB) and has worked in the local medical community since 1994. She has been with Middleton Pediatrics since we opened in 2011.
Lisa and her husband Bill married in 2001 and they currently reside in Maitland with their two boys, Cole and Ethan. She enjoys going to the beach, reading, cooking, and family movie night. Lisa truly loves working with children, as her boys are the loves of her life. Lisa and her family are members of the Maitland Presbyterian Church.
Kelli Coon, Clinical Care Coordinator / Scribe
Kelli Coon was born and raised in Orlando, FL, where she graduated from Lake Highland Preparatory School in 2006. She went on to earn a Bachelor s Degree in Health Education and Human Behavior from the University of Florida, graduating in May 2010. She then returned to Orlando in August of that year and has been part of the Middleton Pediatrics team since we opened in 2011.
Outside of working at Middleton Pediatrics, she is a Yoga Alliance certified teacher (RYT) through Full Circle Yoga in Winter Park, where she currently teaches classes. She also serves as a Board Member for the Lake Highland Prep Alumni Association. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, ballet, surfing, and spending time with family and friends.
Amber Dunlap, Patient Care Coordinator
Amber Dunlap was born and raised in Orlando, FL, where she graduated from The First Academy in 2014. She went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration from Saint Leo University, graduating in April 2018. She then returned to Orlando in August of that year and has been part of the Middleton Pediatrics team since April 2018.
Outside of working at Middleton Pediatrics, Amber enjoys cheerleading and gymnastics in her spare time. She has been a cheerleader for over 10 years. When she is not working or cheerleading, she enjoys the beach, cooking, and quality time with friends and family.
Laura Kiel, Administrative Assistant
Laura was born and raised in Orlando, FL, where she graduated from Olympia High School in 2011. She continued her education at UCF and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Service Administration in December 2015. During her last semester at UCF, Laura simultaneously interned at Middleton Pediatrics as part of her program requirement. She joined the team full-time in January 2016. She and her husband, Jeremy, were married in May of 2018.
Aside from working at Middleton Pediatrics, Laura enjoys dancing. She continues to teach and take dance classes a few nights a week, as dance has always been her passion. In her downtime, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with friends and family.
Kelsey Haber, Patient Care Coordinator
Kelsey was born and raised in the San Franciso Bay area of California. She graduated from Heritage Academy in 2015 and went on to earn an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts, with a minor in Child Development, from Los Medanos College in May of 2017. Kelsey married her High School sweetheart in October 2018. Together they moved to Orlando and currently reside in Winter Park. Before joining Middleton Pediatrics, Kelsey taught gymnastics and dance to children ages 2-18 at Black Diamond Kids Center. She joined our team in February 2019.
Outside of working at Middleton Pediatrics, Kelsey enjoys playing the piano, yoga, and baking. She also loves to paint, design calligraphy, serve at her church and spend time with family and friends over a cup of coffee.
Amanda Bourgeois, RN
Amanda Bourgeois was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. She attended Louisiana State University and received a degree as a Registered Nurse from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2016. She worked in the pediatric ER and in the NICU before joining Middleton Pediatrics in January of 2020.
Amanda moved to Orlando in 2019 to be with her fiancé, Wayne. They will be getting married in January of 2021. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys hanging out with friends and family, laying out by the pool, and cooking.
Ebony Ingram, LPN
Ebony Ingram was born and raised in Ft. Pierce, Florida and moved to Orlando in 1998. She began working with Dr. Middleton as an MA in 2005 and joined the team at Middleton Pediatrics when the office opened in 2011. Ebony obtained her LPN license at the Ridge Career Center in 2015.
Ebony, her husband Todd, and their two daughters currently live in Kissimmee, Florida. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching her girls play sports, and praise dancing with her local church.
Nicole Jones, MA
Nicole was born and raised in Sanford, Florida and moved to Deltona, Florida in 2017. She joined our team at Middleton Pediatrics as an MA in 2019. Prior to working at Middleton Pediatrics, Nicole has gained over 10 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in Pediatrics.
Nicole is a mother of 6 beautiful children, that include 4 girls and 2 boys and with a full house, her kids tend to keep her quite busy. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, roller skating, and sleeping, of course!
Kathleen Angstrom, RN
Kathleen was born and raised in Gainsville, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Psychology. She planned on going on to be a counselor but felt pulled to nursing after graduation. She and her husband then moved to Ocala, Fl, where she earned her nursing degree. In Ocala, she worked on an orthopedic floor and in the ER. She and her family moved to Orlando in 2008 for her husband to work on staff at NewCity Orlando church. Kathleen joined Middleton Pediatrics in 2014.
Kathleen currently resides in Maitland with her husband and 4 children. She loves being a pediatric nurse because it gives her the opportunity to interact with and care for entire families. In her spare time, Kathleen enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, running, and photography.
Katie Cornelius, Clinical Care Coordinator
Katie was born and raised in Winter Park, FL, and graduated from Winter Park High School in 2014. She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Family Youth and Community Science from the University of Florida, graduating in 2018. Katie returned to Orlando and served as an intern at Grace Medical Home where she continues to volunteer. She joined the Middleton Pediatrics team in August 2019 as an intern and plans to go to medical school in the future to become a physician.
Outside of Middleton Pediatrics, Katie enjoys spending time with friends, volunteering with students through her church, and working in Kenya with the Inua Partners in Hope ministry.
Allie Parent, Clinical Care Coordinator
Allie was born and raised in Orlando, FL, where she graduated from Trinity Preparatory School in 2015. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, graduating in 2019. Allie returned to Orlando and joined the Middleton Pediatrics team as an Intern in June of 2019 and plans to return to school to receive her Master's degree in Medical Science to become a Physician Assistant starting the summer of 2021.
Outside of Middleton Pediatrics, Allie enjoys swimming, watching baking tv shows, and visiting local coffee shops. She also loves spending time hiking and going to the beach with her fiancé.
Liz Moore, Consultant
Liz Moore was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated with her bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Toledo, in 2006. Upon graduation, she married her high school sweetheart and together they moved to Orlando in the summer of 2007. Liz has been with Middleton Pediatrics since we opened in 2011.
Liz and her husband Dan have three children and are active members of their church, NewCity Downtown Orlando.
