Dr. Acosta enjoys traveling, watching Gator sports, and spending time with her kids and family.

Biography

Dr. Lorena Acosta was born in Lima, Peru and moved to the United States at the age of 6. She grew up in Weston, FL where she attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School before going on to the University of Florida, graduating with highest honors and a dual degree in Business Administration and Microbiology and Cell Science. Dr. Acosta continued at the University of Florida for medical school, earning her Doctorate of Medicine in 2006, and completed her Pediatric Residency at UF. She stayed an additional year on faculty of the Department of Pediatrics as Chief Resident. Dr. Acosta completed 1 year of fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Arnold Palmer Hospital. Afterward, she worked as a Medical Education Pediatric Hospitalist at Arnold Palmer Hospital, while simultaneously serving as Assistant Professor for the Pediatric Residency Program at UCF College of Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor at FSU College of Medicine. Dr. Acosta joined Middleton Pediatrics in January 2014 and is married to her high school sweetheart, Dr. Jason Acosta, an anesthesiologist. They reside in Belle Isle with their two children. In her free time, Dr. Acosta enjoys traveling, watching Gator sports, and spending time with her kids and family.
